Ikegami to Demonstrate Live IP Remote Production at IBC2017
Accompanying schematic shows the IP bridge carrying video, audio and camera control signals between the Ikegami and S-A-M stands at IBC2017.
Neuss, Germany, September 13th, 2017 – Ikegami will demonstrate a complete live IP remote video production system as a central feature of its exhibit at the mid-September 2017 International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam. The demonstration is being organised in cooperation with Snell Advanced Media (S-A-M) to show the high operational versatility and excellent signal quality now achievable when using IP-based solutions in applications such as studio production, OB sports and stage events.
Core elements of the system on the Ikegami stand (A31 in Hall 12) will include a 4K-native Ikegami UHK-430 3-CMOS camera with a MCP-300 master control unit and CCU-430 camera control unit feeding a S-A-M Kahuna Maverik 6400 production switcher and Ikegami HQLM-3120W 4K Class-1 video monitor. Live UHD video and audio will be interfaced via a SAM IQMIX10 multi-channel IP transceiver and 10 Gbps switcher linked to matching IP interface equipment on the S-A-M stand (A01 in Hall 9).
Visitors to the S-A-M stand will be able to operate the UHK-430 camera from a parallel Ikegami MCP-300 master control panel with the camera output displayed via a S-A-M MV805 multiviewer.
Using 12G-SDI, full-bandwidth 4K can be delivered along a single cable for distances of up to 100 metres, or via fibre over many kilometres. IP bridging further extends that capability, giving broadcasters and production companies the freedom to position and control cameras anywhere in the world for applications such as remote news production or live-event broadcasting.
The Ikegami UHK-430 camera employs three newly-developed 4K-native 2/3 inch CMOS sensors which provide full 3840 x 2160 ultra-high definition resolution plus the depth of field required for full quality studio and outdoor production. The camera is highly expandable with optional features such as simultaneous 4K and HD outputs plus HD cutout selection from the 4K picture. These allow easy migration from HD to 4K live production. Network control can be performed via the camera's integral Gigabit Ethernet data port. This can be supplemented by IP and 12G-SDI interface boards.
The companion Ikegami CCU-430 camera control unit incorporates a switchable 4 x 3G-SDI 4K output as well as HD outputs. Dual HD outputs are provided for teleprompt and talent monitors plus return video lines from studio to viewfinder. A 40 gigabits per second optical transceiver integrated in the CCU-430 delivers full-bandwidth 4K RGB 4:4:4 component channels from camera to CCU, allowing very high quality chroma keying.
